My name is David and I'm happily married with two children. I have a teenage daughter that's supportive and is the skill behind our logo but is more interested in hotels and resorts than crossing the country via tent. My son Daniel is 11 and all about diving headfirst into adventure, making him the perfect co-pilot.
We're an average working-class family and yes, my wife tries to make me adhere to a budget. I'm blessed with a wife that understands the need for boys being boys and that the life lessons our adventures teach us are well worth the money and time spent. I also have amazing business partners that are willing to let me work remotely while out on the road, dirt or anywhere else that our adventures take us.
Living in the southeast, we thought it would be amazing to cross the country in three different directions. Our 3 trips are planned to take place during summer vacations over a 3 - 4 year time period.
Life is busy and will pass us by if we blink long enough. It's during the initial phase of Covid that proved my business has a level of flexibility to work remotely that I hadn't previously considered. The lockdowns also helped my son and I realize that we needed to up the level of adventure in our time together.
I'm old enough to have survived many excursions with the scares and stiffness as souvenirs. I grew up in Oklahoma with a desire for adventure. Through the years I've riden motorcycles, kayaked and canoed, rock climbed, snow skied and boarded as well as hunted, but my favorite was camping and hiking. I enjoyed the ruggedness of the Colorado mountains the most. It's there that I learned to be humbled by nature's shear vastness and power.
Daniel: He's always up for whatever challenge you throw at him with a "Sure, that sounds like fun". He loves to surf, skim board, fish, play soccer and train in martial arts. He loves to tackle ropes courses and zip lines, along with being a gentle spirited young man that loves animals and nature.
